Accentuation

Lebanese language reformer Saïd Akl

Accentuation Rules:

The accented syllable in a word is the one with last 'long vowel'. e.g. 'dâra, şâlôn, çôtôstrâd'.

The accented syllable can also be the one followed by two or more consonants. e.g. 'maxall, mistacfa, çonşoliyye, kamstaýc'

If there are no 'long vowels' in a word, or no 'short vowels' followed by two or more consonants, then the first syllable is accented. e.g. 'ðohor, madrase'.

Helping Vowel 'e' is never accented.
