Article Prefix:
Lebanese has one definite article that can be pronounced l-/il-/li-, and which is always placed at the beginning of the word. The "l" of the article prefix disappears with words beginning with "solar consonants", leading to the doubling of that consonant.
Solar Consonants:
t š d ž r z s c ş ð ţ ź l n
Examples:
The moon - l-çamar
The sun - c-cames
The stars - n-njûm
Bank manager - mudîr il-banq
President of the state - raçîs id-dawle
My eldest son - çibni li-qbîr
